Berlin (dpa) – The sale of tickets for the upcoming Football World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico has entered its next phase today. From 5 PM Central European Time (CET), fans can register for a random draw on FIFA.com/tickets. For the first time, individual tickets for specific matches and teams in the group stage are available.

Final Official Sales Phase Until January 13th

This marks the last official sales phase, with registration open until January 13th. According to FIFA, any remaining tickets may be released for sale closer to the tournament, subject to availability. Fans without a FIFA ID must first create an account. FIFA states that the timing of registration for the random draw does not influence the chances of success. Lucky applicants in the subsequent random selection process will receive an email notifying them of a time window during which they can purchase tickets.

Limited Availability for Cheapest Tickets

FIFA had advertised tickets starting from 60 US dollars (approximately 51 euros). However, the areas allocated for this price category in the World Cup stadiums are small, meaning there are very few tickets available at the lowest price. Significantly higher prices are being demanded on the resale market, and FIFA additionally charges a 15 percent fee from both buyers and sellers.

Tournament Details and Germany’s Schedule

The tournament will feature 104 matches, with 48 teams participating for the first time. Co-hosts Mexico and South Africa will play the opening match on June 13th in Mexico City, and the final will take place on July 19th in East Rutherford, near New York.

The German team will begin their group stage campaign on June 14th in Houston against Curaçao. Further opponents include Ivory Coast on June 20th in Toronto and Ecuador on June 25th in East Rutherford.

Almost Two Million Tickets Already Sold

In the first two sales phases, football fans have already secured almost two million tickets, according to FIFA. A maximum of four tickets per match and a total of no more than 40 tickets for the entire World Cup can be purchased per household.
