Berlin, January 17, 2026 – Regular swimmers at Berlin’s public swimming pools will benefit from a new, more flexible subscription model starting next month. This initiative, announced previously, will replace the long-standing annual Bädercard, offering three distinct tariff options designed to cater to various swimming habits and budgets.
New Subscription Models for Berlin’s Swimmers
The previous Bädercard, priced at €495 annually (€275 with a discount), is being phased out. The new system introduces three tariffs: Basic, Flex, and Plus, each with different features and price points. For many swimmers, these new options are expected to result in lower annual costs, though those who previously purchased discounted cards may find the new rates higher.
Three Tariff Options Detailed:
- Basic Tariff: Costs €30 per month or €360 per year (€276 with a discount). This option allows for two swims per week in Category 2 and 3 pools.
- Flex Tariff: Priced at €38 per month or €456 per year (reduced rate €360). This tariff offers unlimited swimming across all pool categories.
- Plus Tariff: The premium option at €70 per month or €840 per year (reduced rate €648). This tariff includes the benefit of bringing a companion.
The subscriptions are purchased online and come with a minimum commitment of three months, commencing on the first day of the month. A key feature of the new model is the ability to pause subscriptions for up to six consecutive months, providing flexibility for swimmers during summer or winter breaks.
This move by Berlin’s public pools aims to modernize their offerings and provide more tailored solutions for the city’s diverse swimming community. The change reflects a broader trend towards more adaptable service models in public amenities.
