Munich’s Wildest Invention: The Weisswurst Doughnut Is Here! 🤯
Okay, people, stop scrolling! This isn’t a drill. Munich, the city of beer and pretzels, has just dropped a food mashup that’s so wild, so bizarre, you won’t know whether to drool or scream. Introducing: the Weisswurst Doughnut! 🍩🌭
Yes, you read that right. A doughnut. Filled with Weisswurst. We’re not even kidding. This is happening, and it’s just in time for the crazy Carnival season! 🎉
What in the Bavarian Blasphemy Is This?!
Imagine this: a fluffy, sweet German doughnut (or ‘Krapfen’ as they call it down south) sliced open, and instead of jam or cream, it’s packed with a juicy Weisswurst patty. Then, to top it all off, a dollop of a special mustard blend. Mind. Blown. 🤯
This culinary Frankenstein is hitting the streets (and stomachs) of Munich on February 17th, Carnival Tuesday, and will set you back a devilish 6.66 Euros. Coincidence? We think NOT! 😈
Who’s Behind This Madness?
The mastermind behind this sweet-and-savory enigma is Thomas Vollmer (54), the landlord of the Augustiner Stammhaus, a true Munich institution. He teamed up with the legendary Café Kreutzkamm to bring this edible fever dream to life. 🤔
“What has more Munich DNA than the Munich Weisswurst?” Vollmer pondered. And honestly, he’s got a point. The Weisswurst itself was born out of a Carnival mishap way back in 1857! So, it’s only fitting that its next evolution happens during the wildest time of the year. 🎭
These aren’t just any Weisswürste, by the way. We’re talking up to 40 centimeters long and ten centimeters thick! They’re sliced into patties to fit perfectly into your doughnut. Talk about an upgrade! 🔥
The Secret Sauce: Mustard Magic! ✨
But wait, there’s more! The mustard isn’t just any mustard. It’s a secret blend of sweet Munich Weisswurst mustard and Düsseldorf’s Löwensenf. “This brings in more spice and a touch of Carnival,” explains Tobias Ranzinger, spokesperson for the city center landlords. So, it’s got a kick! 🌶️
Does It Actually TASTE Good?!
That’s the million-dollar question, right? Well, the Munich Narhalla Carnival royal couple got to try it, and their verdict? They loved it! They bit into it with gusto, and Vollmer himself declares, “It tastes excellent!” 🙌
But here’s the real kicker: this isn’t just a bizarre snack. It’s also being touted as the ultimate hangover cure! “The Weisswurst Doughnut is hearty, has hardly any sugar, plus the special mustard mix – a good base before enjoying Munich beers,” says Vollmer. So, it’s basically a health food? We’re sold! 🍻
Where Can YOU Get Your Hands on This Legend?
If you’re brave enough (or just super curious), you can find the Weisswurst Doughnut on Carnival Tuesday at participating pubs and restaurants, including the Augustiner Stammhaus, Hofbräuhaus, Augustiner am Platzl, Cafe Kreutzkamm, and Weißen Bräuhaus. Get ready for a queue, because this is going to be HUGE! 🤩
And if you’re a traditionalist and prefer your Weisswurst pure, many Munich pubs will be offering the classic for just one Euro a piece on Rose Monday (the day before Carnival Tuesday). So, you’ve got options, people! 😉
