Berlin, February 12, 2026 – The Irish lifestyle hotel brand ‘The Dean’ has officially made its German debut, opening ‘The Dean Berlin’ in the heart of Charlottenburg, a historic district of the capital, at the beginning of February 2026. This new design hotel promises a unique blend of lifestyle, art, and a relaxed dining concept.

A Homage to Berlin’s Avant-Garde in a Historic Setting

Housed in a late 19th-century building, ‘The Dean Berlin’ has been meticulously designed by London interior designer Rachael Gowdridge. Her vision creates a multifaceted aesthetic that pays homage to Berlin’s avant-garde. The design seamlessly integrates original architectural details with bold colors, sculptural lighting, and a progressive design language.

Where Old Meets New: A Design Philosophy

Throughout the hotel, the design cleverly plays with existing elements and new details. Patinated plaster walls, original mosaic floors, and wooden elements are thoughtfully combined with custom-made carpentry. This approach creates a harmonious blend of historical charm and contemporary flair.

Each of the 81 rooms is envisioned as an urban sanctuary with character. Guests are greeted by an antechamber in deep red, which then opens into the bedroom. Here, wall paneling in soft mauve tones, layered textiles, and floor-to-ceiling curtains create an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy. The guest experience is further enhanced by exclusive care products developed in collaboration with the perfume brand ‘DS & Durga’.

Culinary Delights and a Vibrant Art Scene

The heart of ‘The Dean Berlin’ is ‘Benedict’ – a bakery, restaurant, and bar all in one. This all-day meeting point for both guests and locals serves international menus with a strong focus on breakfast and brunch, available from morning until late evening.

‘The Dean Berlin’ also launches with an art series titled ‘Wanderers’, curated by independent curator Thom Oosterhof. Inspired by the constantly evolving rhythm of Berlin and its inhabitants, ‘Wanderers’ brings together works by emerging and established German artists throughout the hotel. Upon check-in, guests will encounter pieces by painters such as Xia Peng, Wolfgang Guenther, Ricky Lee Gordon, Erika Richter, and Wiebke Maria Wachmann. This collection extends through the floors and corridors, transforming the hotel into a living reflection of the city’s creative scene.

A New Destination for Art and Culture Enthusiasts

The hotel’s commitment to showcasing local and national artistic talent underscores its ambition to be more than just a place to stay. It aims to be a cultural hub, offering guests and visitors an immersive experience into Berlin’s vibrant art landscape.

The opening of ‘The Dean Berlin’ marks a significant addition to the city’s hospitality scene, offering a unique blend of historical architecture, contemporary design, culinary excellence, and a deep appreciation for art. It is poised to become a new landmark in Charlottenburg, attracting both international travelers and local residents seeking a distinctive and inspiring environment.

The hotel’s strategic location in Charlottenburg, known for its elegant boulevards, historic buildings, and cultural institutions, further enhances its appeal. Guests will have easy access to some of Berlin’s most renowned attractions, including the Charlottenburg Palace, Kurfürstendamm, and various museums and galleries.

This new venture by ‘The Dean’ brand is expected to contribute positively to Berlin’s tourism sector, drawing in a demographic that values design, culture, and high-quality hospitality. The hotel’s focus on creating an urban retreat with character, combined with its artistic and culinary offerings, sets it apart in the competitive Berlin hotel market.

Local businesses in Charlottenburg are also anticipated to benefit from the increased foot traffic and patronage generated by the new hotel. ‘The Dean Berlin’ is not just a hotel; it’s a testament to Berlin’s enduring appeal as a city of innovation, culture, and dynamic urban life.
