Hamburg, March 1 – Students from Stralsund University of Applied Sciences (Vorpommern-Rügen district) and their ‘MariTeam’ project presented their self-developed racing motorcycle at the Hamburg Motorcycle Days last weekend. The event, held in Hamburg, is recognized as Northern Germany’s largest motorcycle fair. This marks the third racing machine developed by the ‘MariTeam’ since its inception in 2017.
The ‘MariTeam’ Project: A Hub of Innovation
The ‘MariTeam’ at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences is structured into three distinct departments, fostering a highly professional and collaborative environment. The team’s current focus is on optimizing various components of their racing bike, demonstrating a commitment to cutting-edge engineering and design.
Key Innovations and Development Phases
During the manufacturing phase, the team is actively engaged in several key areas of development:
- Exhaust System Optimization: Efforts are underway to refine the exhaust system for improved performance.
- Innovative Radiator Design: A new radiator is being developed, with parts partially manufactured using advanced 3D printing technology.
- Lightweight Intake System: The intake system is being redesigned with a consistent focus on lightweight construction, aiming to reduce overall vehicle mass.
- Integrated Fuel Tank in Rear Frame: Plans are in motion for a new rear frame that will integrate the fuel tank, further enhancing the bike’s design and functionality.
Many of these components are being developed as part of student projects or final theses, highlighting the practical application of academic knowledge within the ‘MariTeam’.
Future Prospects for Graduates and Industry Impact
The hands-on experience gained through the ‘MariTeam’ project provides students with invaluable skills and knowledge. Graduates of Stralsund University of Applied Sciences who participate in the team often go on to work in the automotive industry, demonstrating the program’s success in preparing students for professional careers.
Hamburg Motorcycle Days: A Platform for Innovation
The Hamburg Motorcycle Days serve as a crucial platform for showcasing such innovations. As the largest motorcycle fair in Northern Germany, it attracts enthusiasts, industry professionals, and media, providing an ideal setting for the ‘MariTeam’ to present their advanced engineering to a wider audience.
This initiative not only promotes the technical capabilities of Stralsund University of Applied Sciences but also inspires future generations of engineers and designers to push the boundaries of motorcycle technology.
