Hamburg Spring Dom 2026: New Attractions and a Major Comeback

Hamburg, March 20 – The 22nd Hamburg Spring Dom has officially opened, bringing with it a host of new attractions and the much-anticipated return of a major roller coaster. The fair, which runs until April 19, promises a diverse experience for visitors of all ages.

New Heights and Spooky Thrills

Among the new additions is the “Look 360 Grad Panorama” tower, making its debut at the Dom. This attraction features glazed cabins that ascend to a height of 71 meters, offering a panoramic view of the Hanseatic city during its seven-minute rotation. For those seeking a thrill, the “Geisterpalast” (Ghost Palace) provides a new spooky experience. This three-level haunted house features rotating gondolas that travel through dark corridors, touted by operators as the world’s largest portable ghost train.

The Return of a Giant: “Olympia Looping” is Back

A significant highlight of this year’s Spring Dom is the comeback of the “Olympia Looping” roller coaster after a 14-year absence. This massive portable roller coaster propels riders through five loops at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour, covering a track length of over 1.2 kilometers. Also returning are the “Hexentanz,” a high-speed round ride, and the walk-through attraction “Villa Wahnsinn.”

Stable Visitor Numbers Expected Despite Rising Costs

Robert Kirchhecker from the Hamburg Showmen’s Association of 1884 e.V. noted that visitors should anticipate price increases this year due to high fuel costs. For example, a two-minute ride on the “Olympia Looping” costs 12.50 Euros. Despite these financial challenges for showmen, Kirchhecker remains optimistic about visitor numbers, expecting over a million guests, consistent with previous years. A total of 253 showmen’s businesses are participating in the Spring Dom, offering 25 rides, 20 game stalls, and numerous food and drink vendors.

Special Events and Family Fun

The Spring Dom features several special events. Wednesdays are designated as Family Day, offering discounts of up to 30 percent. The fair will be closed on Good Friday. On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the Easter Bunny will be present, offering a surprise to children under twelve who bring a painted Easter egg. On April 15, the Dom mascot “Bummel” will host a birthday parade. Large fireworks displays are scheduled for the opening day, Easter Sunday, and the last Friday of the event.

The Tradition of the Hamburg Dom

The Hamburg Dom, a traditional funfair, has been held on the Heiligengeistfeld since December 2, 1900. Its origins trace back to a colorful market trade that initially took place in the Mariendom. Following the Spring Dom, the Summer Dom will run from July 24 to August 30, and the Winter Dom from November 6 to December 6.
