Museum’s Birthday Celebration at Alte Nationalgalerie

The Alte Nationalgalerie invites visitors to a birthday celebration from 10 AM to 6 PM, featuring guided tours, insights into its collections, and more. The museum building itself, considered the largest artwork in the collection, will be a central focus. The program includes a symbolic ‘baton handover’ from the Altes Museum to the Alte Nationalgalerie as part of the MI200 Museum Island anniversary, and the opening of the special exhibition “Scandal! Hermione von Preuschen and the Mors Imperator,” which explores the once controversial painting “Mors Imperator” by artist Hermione von Preuschen.

  • Guided Tours: Numerous tours throughout the day, including architectural tours of the Alte Nationalgalerie and thematic explorations of the collections.

  • “Fabulous! Three-Dimensional!” (12 PM – 4 PM, Level 2): Model fantastical creatures from clay or playdough.
  • “Off to the Museum!” Guided Tours: Half-hourly insights into the Museum Island museums, available in German and Ukrainian (1 PM – 4 PM).
  • Sand Animation Show “The Forest Song”: A captivating show with music and a reading in German, based on a play by Lesya Ukrainka (4 PM).

Accessibility: All activities at Haus Bastian are free of charge, and no prior registration is required. The events are barrier-free, and a picnic area is available for consuming brought snacks and drinks.
