Munich District Offers Diverse Nature Experience Programs for 2026

Munich, April 9, 2026 – The Munich District Office, in collaboration with the HeideHaus environmental station, is once again inviting participants to a variety of nature programs in 2026. These initiatives, part of the “NaturVielfalt Leben” project, aim to provide engaging nature experiences for children and adults, focusing on biological diversity and environmental education.

Programs for Children: Discovering Nature Playfully

The offerings are primarily aimed at children aged seven to ten and eight to twelve. Through various programs, they will learn about the interconnectedness of nature and how animals, plants, and microorganisms are linked. Playful discoveries, creative crafting activities, and joint excursions into nature are at the forefront of these programs.

The programs for children are developed in cooperation with the Heideflächenverein Münchner Norden e. V. and are held at the HeideHaus environmental station in the “Südliche Fröttmaninger Heide” nature reserve. This area is considered one of the ecologically significant sites in northern Munich, offering diverse habitats for rare plant and animal species. Children will not only learn theoretical basics but also gain direct experience in nature, observing plants and animals, exploring habitats, and understanding the relationships between different species.

Further Training for Teachers and Multipliers

The program also includes offerings for teachers and pedagogical specialists. Two training days at the HeideHaus environmental station and the Nature Experience Centre (NEZ) in Pullach will impart ecological expertise and provide suggestions for practical environmental education in the classroom. These events are free of charge.

Planned training sessions include “Experiencing and Promoting Floral Diversity in Lean Habitats” on June 12, 2026, and “Exploring Meadows with Children and Discovering Biodiversity” on July 10, 2026. Additionally, a multi-part training series will again take place at the NEZ Pullach, repeating last year’s offer to allow more teachers to participate. A follow-up course on school gardens with Annette Holländer will also be offered.

Environmental Education for Adults

Adults can also expand their knowledge of biological diversity. In cooperation with the adult education centers in the Munich district, the project offers various courses and excursions. These events provide basic knowledge about habitats, biodiversity, and nature conservation in the district. A complete overview of all offerings is available on the website of the Munich District Office, which is continuously updated.

Information and registration for teacher training are also available from Susanne May of the “NaturVielfalt Leben” project team via email at [email protected] or by phone at 089 / 6221-1327.

The “NaturVielfalt Leben im Landkreis München” project is funded as part of the Federal Program on Biological Diversity by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation with funds from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection.
