Amazon has officially inaugurated its new German headquarters in the Bavarian capital, Munich, setting a new benchmark for modern office environments across Europe. The facility, located in Parkstadt Schwabing, spans 45,000 square meters and integrates various corporate divisions under one roof, providing space for up to 2,500 employees.

Architecture and Design: Bauhaus Meets Munich

Designed by GSP Architekten, the new building embraces Bauhaus principles, combining clean lines with a social vision. The interior design reflects local identity: conference rooms are named after Munich themes such as the subway network, Oktoberfest tents, famous landmarks, Bavarian lakes, and mountains. This approach underscores Amazon’s commitment to Bavaria.

Modern Work Environments and Innovative Facilities

The new office adopts a contemporary concept with diverse work environments. Alongside traditional offices, there are secluded areas for focused work and open spaces for team collaboration. A central atrium can host up to 600 people and features a stage and a cafeteria with barista service. Highlights include yoga rooms, a music room for the Amazon Music team, a company cinema for Prime Video screenings, and over ten green roof terraces for urban gardening and barbecue evenings. For eco-friendly commuting, 800 bicycle parking spaces are available.

Sustainability and Social Commitment

Amazon emphasizes sustainability and energy efficiency at its new location. This headquarters signifies the company’s long-term commitment to Bavaria and Germany. In 2024, Amazon invested 14 billion euros in Germany and operates 17 logistics centers in Bavaria.

Unique Corporate Culture: Dogs Welcome

Another distinctive feature is the dog-friendly policy: employees are welcome to bring their dogs, with dedicated meeting rooms provided. This tradition harks back to Rufus, the Welsh Corgi, who inspired the name of the company’s AI shopping assistant.

Economic Significance for Bavaria

With its new headquarters in Munich, Amazon strengthens its presence in Bavaria and establishes a central hub for its corporate divisions. The Amazon Web Services (AWS) sector will continue to operate from its existing location in the city center on Oskar-von-Miller-Ring.
