Bistro Renate to Bring Seafood Delights to Glockenbachviertel, Munich
Munich, April 17 – The Glockenbachviertel district in Munich is preparing to welcome a new culinary establishment, Bistro Renate, which is slated to open its doors in approximately two weeks. This new venture, spearheaded by William Semen, Matthias Lantenhammer, and Maximilian Würz, will initially operate as a six-month pop-up with a potential for extension, bringing a fresh focus on seafood to the area.
A New Chapter in Pestalozzistraße 9
Bistro Renate will occupy the premises at Pestalozzistraße 9, previously home to Monaco Ramen, which recently concluded its operations after six months. The departure of Monaco Ramen, a popular Japanese noodle spot, leaves room for this new concept, promising to continue the culinary tradition in the vibrant district.
Experienced Team from Mural Restaurant
The trio behind Bistro Renate brings a wealth of experience from the acclaimed Mural Restaurant, where Semen served as Sous Chef, Lantenhammer as Sommelier, and Würz as Restaurant Manager. Their collaborative experience and shared passion for classic French cuisine are expected to shape the bistro’s menu and dining experience. Lantenhammer, also a trained chef, will occasionally assist Semen in the kitchen.
Focus on Seafood with a Bold Twist
Bistro Renate aims to specialize in high-quality seafood, including crustaceans, mussels, and oysters. The founders emphasize their desire to offer these delicacies at moderate prices and in a relaxed, unstuffy atmosphere. Diners can anticipate options such as whole fish designed for sharing at the table, or unique dishes like Chinese soup dumplings filled with bouillabaisse, intended for individual enjoyment. The menu will also feature a selection of wines, drinks, and homemade soft-serve ice cream.
A Commitment to Classic French Craftsmanship
The team expressed their enthusiasm for “proper sauces and real craftsmanship,” indicating a commitment to traditional French cooking techniques while embracing a bold and innovative approach to their dishes. This blend of classic and contemporary is expected to define Bistro Renate’s culinary identity.
