S25 Race Causes Traffic Disruptions in Berlin
Berlin, April 19, 2026 – More than 10,000 runners participated in this year’s S25 City Race in Berlin. As a result, numerous road closures and restrictions were in effect in the Westend and Grunewald areas until 2:00 PM, as announced by the traffic information center.
Extensive Road Closures for the S25 Race
The B5 Heerstraße was closed in both directions between Am Postfenn and Jafféstraße until approximately 1:00 PM for car traffic. The closure of the entire race route for cars and bicycles concluded shortly after the last runners had passed. The Olympic Square, including Trakehner Allee, was also closed.
In addition, the police issued a general decree for the race, specifically prohibiting the carrying of weapons and knives in a defined area. This applied, among other locations, to the Olympic Square and Trakehner Allee.
25 Kilometers Through Grunewald
The route for all races started at the Olympic Square and finished at the Olympic Stadium. The 25-kilometer race largely led through the Grunewald, while shorter race distances primarily extended through the Olympic Park.
The 25-kilometer race route took participants from the Olympic Square via Olympische Straße, Preußenallee, Heerstraße, Jafféstraße, and Eichkampstraße through the Grunewald, reaching the finish line in the Olympic Park via Havelchaussee, Angerburger Allee, and Glockenturmstraße.
