Munich, April 20 – Police are investigating a man and a woman following an incident of alleged sexual harassment at the “Neuraum” club in Munich’s Ludwigsvorstadt district in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 21-year-old man from near Fürstenfeldbruck reportedly touched the 18-year-old woman inappropriately, prompting her to retaliate with a punch to his face. Ironically, the alleged groper then called the police himself.

Police Investigate Both Parties for Assault and Sexual Harassment

Upon the arrival of a police patrol at the club, both individuals were still present. The 21-year-old filed a complaint against the woman for bodily harm. Police are currently investigating whether the 18-year-old’s punch was a justifiable act of self-defense given the circumstances. Simultaneously, the 21-year-old is under investigation for sexual harassment. Both individuals have been released and are not in custody.

Self-Defense or Assault?

The incident has sparked debate online, with some users questioning the man’s actions and the woman’s response. Comments on the article highlight differing views on what constitutes appropriate behavior in a club setting and the legality of self-defense in such situations. One commenter, “Witwe Bolte,” reminisced about a time when such actions were considered “normal” in clubs, while “Gelegenheitsleserin” countered that no one should tolerate being touched without consent.

This case underscores the ongoing societal discussion surrounding consent, personal boundaries, and the appropriate response to unwanted physical contact in public spaces. The police investigation will aim to clarify the sequence of events and determine the legal culpability of both parties involved.
