Currently, 4,436 cases remain unprocessed, which is delaying corresponding regulations with insurance companies. However, average waiting times are not known. This information emerged from the Senate’s response to a parliamentary inquiry from the CDU parliamentary group.
Reasons for the Delays
Several factors are contributing to the backlog. Among the reasons cited are numerous retirements and prolonged illnesses within the departments. Additionally, the introduction of electronic files is temporarily causing further delays in processing. Furthermore, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of investigative cases, including those related to insurance fraud or false license plates.
