Multiple Fires Near Munich: Police Investigate Possible Arson

Munich, May 8 – Police are investigating a series of small forest fires that have occurred in and around Munich within a few days, examining potential links between the incidents and considering arson as a cause. The fire department’s district fire chief has expressed suspicion of a possible arson series.

Within a short period, several small forest areas have caught fire. On April 29, approximately 50 square meters burned in the small municipality of Grasbrunn. The district fire chief of the Grasbrunn fire department, Johannes Bußjäger, voiced suspicions of a potential fire series in an interview with the “Münchner Merkur.” He highlighted the unusual frequency of fires in such a short timeframe and noted parallels to older cases.

The police, when questioned, responded with caution, stating that they routinely investigate possible connections between fire incidents, including older ones. However, investigators have not yet obtained any conclusive results.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the fires and whether they are indeed linked. The community remains alert following the rapid succession of these incidents.
