19-Year-Old Attacked in Suspected Homophobic Assault in Hamburg

Hamburg, May 20 – A 19-year-old man was the victim of a suspected homophobic attack in the Neugraben-Fischbek district of Hamburg. The incident occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday after the young man had arranged a meeting with another man via an app, as reported by the police on Wednesday.

Ambush on a Field Path

According to police statements, the man he met led the 19-year-old from their meeting point to a field path. There, approximately five unknown men were waiting. The 19-year-old attempted to escape to his car but was prevented from doing so by at least two attackers who repeatedly punched and kicked him. One of the assailants was reportedly armed with a bat-like object.

Escape and Police Investigation

The attackers briefly stopped their assault when potential witnesses approached, allowing the victim to flee in his car. The assailants managed to escape, and a subsequent police search has so far been unsuccessful. The 19-year-old received treatment for minor injuries at a hospital.

The police are currently appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the incident.
