Firefighters Respond to Smoke-Filled Church in Munich-Haidhausen
Munich, May 26 – A fire in a church in the Haidhausen district on Saturday evening prompted a significant response from the Munich fire brigade. The building, located on Preysingstraßße, was heavily smoke-logged, necessitating the deployment of a large ventilation unit to clear the fumes.
Emergency Call and Initial Response
The emergency services were alerted around 10:10 PM to the evangelical church on Preysingstraßße. Upon arrival, firefighters observed thick smoke billowing from the house of worship. Due to the confined nature of the building, extinguishing efforts were initially challenging for the crews.
Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, entered the church and quickly located the source of the blaze: a small fire in a toilet. A thorough search of the building confirmed that fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Large Fan Deployed to Clear Smoke
Given the extensive smoke within the church, a large ventilation fan was called to the scene to assist in clearing the building. The operation was concluded around 12:15 AM on Sunday morning.
Investigation Underway, Damage Undetermined
The exact cause of the small fire remains unclear at this time. The police have launched an investigation into the incident. The extent of the material damage to the church has not yet been assessed.
