Werder (dpa/bb) – May 31, 2026 – A 66-year-old man found himself in a ditch in Werder, a town in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, after attempting to evade a police traffic control. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police officers became aware of the 66-year-old when they observed him driving in a serpentine manner. After initially managing to stop the vehicle, the man reportedly drove off again, subsequently landing his car in a roadside ditch.

No Valid Driver’s License and Suspected Impairment

Upon further investigation, officers determined that the 66-year-old individual was not in possession of a valid driver’s license. Furthermore, he was visibly under the influence of intoxicating substances.

As a result of the incident, a blood sample was taken from the man, and his vehicle was impounded as evidence. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

This event highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to ensure road safety and address drivers operating vehicles without proper authorization or under the influence.

The incident took place in Werder, located within the state of Brandenburg, near Berlin, and was reported by the German Press Agency (dpa).

Local authorities continue to urge all drivers to adhere to traffic laws and to never operate a vehicle without a valid license or while impaired, for their own safety and the safety of others on the road.
