Witness Reports Armed Individual Near U-Bahn Station

The incident began at approximately 9:25 PM on Thursday when a witness contacted the police headquarters’ operations center. The witness, who was driving past the Machtlfinger Straße U-Bahn station in Sendling, reported seeing a man carrying what appeared to be a rifle or a pistol. The witness was unable to provide a more precise description of the weapon to the police.

Immediate Police Response and Search Operation

Upon receiving the report, the operations center immediately dispatched ten patrol cars to the U-Bahn station. To ensure public safety during the search, the U-Bahn operating company was instructed to have trains pass through the Machtlfinger Straße station without stopping. Simultaneously, police officers meticulously searched the entire station area, as well as surrounding streets and sidewalks.

Despite the extensive search, neither a suspicious person nor a weapon was discovered. Furthermore, security camera footage from the vicinity of the U-Bahn station was reviewed. A police spokesperson confirmed on Friday that no suspicious individuals or observations were noted in the recordings.

All-Clear Given After One Hour

After approximately one hour, the search operation was concluded, and the U-Bahn trains were able to resume their normal service, stopping at the Machtlfinger Straße station. Police confirmed that there were no indications of a criminal offense. The incident was treated as a precautionary measure based on the witness’s report.

No Evidence of Criminal Activity Found

The swift and comprehensive police response underscores the seriousness with which such reports are handled. While the immediate threat was not substantiated, the deployment highlights the readiness of Munich’s police force to respond to potential public safety concerns. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of public vigilance and reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.
