VBB Expands Public Transport for ILA Berlin 2026, Ensuring Smooth Travel to the Fair
Berlin, June 10 – The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) has announced a substantial expansion of public transport services for the upcoming ILA Berlin 2026, scheduled to take place from June 10 to 14. This initiative aims to provide visitors with a comfortable and reliable journey to the exhibition grounds, with a particular focus on enhancing services during the public days on June 13 and 14.
To accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger traffic, the VBB has organized comprehensive additional transport measures. Christoph Heuing, Managing Director of VBB, stated, “With these additional services, we are providing an efficient and attractive mobility offer for visitors to ILA 2026. Our goal is to ensure comfortable arrival and departure while relieving traffic congestion around the exhibition grounds.” Visitors are strongly encouraged to utilize public transport for their travel to the event.
Key Measures for Enhanced Mobility:
- Special Trains for Public Days: On Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14, special trains will operate between Lichtenberg and Schönefeld every 20 minutes.
- Arrival Times from Lichtenberg: Approximately 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Departure Times from Schönefeld: Approximately 3:30 PM to 7:10 PM.
- Additional Stops: Some trains will make additional stops at Ostkreuz and Schöneweide.
- Alternative Stops: Individual trains will stop at Gesundbrunnen (June 13 and 14) instead of Lichtenberg, or at the Berlin Stadtbahn stations (June 13 only) instead of Lichtenberg and Schöneweide.
- Journey Planning: All train connections are already available for查询 on the VBB website: www.vbb.de/fahrinfo.
- Shuttle Bus Services: From Schönefeld, shuttle buses will transport visitors directly to the event grounds.
- ODEG as Operator: The Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG) will operate these special services, utilizing modern Desiro HC trains with 400 seats, similar to those used on the RE1 line.
- S2 Line Frequency Increase: The S2 S-Bahn line will operate at a 10-minute frequency all the way to Mahlow on both public days.
- Additional Shuttle Bus Connections: Shuttle buses to the ILA grounds will also be available from Mahlow (S2), Rudow (U7), and Schönefeld (ILA special trains and limited S85, S9 services).
Important Note: There will be no S-Bahn services (lines S85, S9) between Berlin city center and Grünbergallee. Replacement bus services will be in operation. Therefore, it is recommended to travel via the ILA special trains or through Mahlow or Rudow.
