Dachau, June 10 – A severe bus accident near Munich has resulted in the death of a school child and left dozens injured. The collision, involving a school bus carrying second-grade students and an empty public bus, occurred on a state road between Hebertshausen and Haimhausen in the Dachau district.

The Dachau District Administrator, Stefan Löwl (CSU), confirmed the death of a school child, identified as a boy, during a press conference held at the scene. Initial reports from the police indicated a double-digit number of injured, with several children sustaining moderate to severe injuries.

Emergency Response and Casualties

The accident, which took place around 12:30 PM, triggered a massive emergency response. Four rescue helicopters, approximately 15 ambulances, and eight emergency doctors were dispatched to the scene. Multiple injured individuals were transported to surrounding hospitals.

Among the injured, a teacher is reported to be severely hurt and is currently undergoing surgery. Two other children also sustained serious injuries. Additionally, 26 children and both bus drivers suffered minor injuries. The school attended by the children has informed parents, and a crisis team is on-site to provide support.

Investigation Underway

The collision occurred on a curve. Authorities have confirmed that both bus drivers voluntarily underwent breathalyzer tests, both of which returned negative results for alcohol. The exact cause of the accident remains unclear, and police have launched an investigation with the assistance of an expert.

The state road between Hebertshausen and Haimhausen, located approximately 20 kilometers north of Munich city center, was closed for an extensive period to facilitate rescue and recovery operations. A citizen hotline has been set up for relatives and those affected by the incident:
