Owen argued that a greater achievement for Kane would have been to become the all-time leading scorer in Premier League history. He suggested that after his contract with Tottenham expired, Kane could have chosen any club, with Manchester United reportedly eager to sign him. Owen even speculated that Kane should have moved to Manchester United before Erling Haaland joined Manchester City.

Despite his criticism of the transfer, Owen maintained his high regard for Kane’s abilities. “Some players have talents that simply cannot be learned: enormous speed, exceptional balance.
