Hertha Women’s Football Team Loses Historic Second Division Debut

Bochum, August 2 – Hertha BSC’s women’s football team suffered a setback in their historic 2. Bundesliga premiere, losing 0-3 (0-2) to VfL Bochum. Nina Lange (14th minute), Adrienne Jordan (45th), and Anna Marques (75th) secured the victory for Bochum, handing coach Tobias Kurbjuweit’s team a defeat in their first-ever second division match.

Viktoria Berlin Starts Season with a Win

In contrast, Viktoria Berlin began their new season with a convincing 3-1 victory against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Aneta Polaskova (1st minute), Christin Meyer (48th), and Leyila Aydin (87th) scored for coach Miren Catovic’s team, which enters the season with high ambitions. Vivien Thomann (69th) scored the lone goal for TSG. Viktoria captain Nina Ehegötz had previously stated, “We are united in our desire to be promoted.” The team finished fifth in the previous season as a promoted side.

Turbine Potsdam Falls to Ingolstadt

Similar to the previous season, Turbine Potsdam faced FC Ingolstadt on the first matchday. While they won 2-0 last time, this time they were defeated 0-1 after a goal from Emma Kusch (77th). Coach Steen Gravgaard had recently told rbb, “I will not name a number for which place we want to finish.” The Potsdam team was only three points away from the relegation zone at the end of the previous season.
