Munich, August 15 – A fire in the roof of St. Helena Church in Munich was successfully extinguished on Saturday evening. No injuries were reported, according to a spokesperson for the fire department. The emergency call was received around 6:25 PM on Saturday.
Fire in the Nave Roof Area
The fire originated in the roof area of the church’s nave. Initially, no flames were visible from the exterior of the building. To access the fire and smoldering embers, firefighters had to open parts of the roof. All smoldering areas have since been fully extinguished.
Emergency services are now assessing how to make the opened roof weatherproof again. No one was inside the church at the time the fire broke out, and according to the fire department, there was no danger to nearby residents.
Extensive Emergency Response
Approximately 70 emergency personnel and 20 vehicles were deployed to the scene. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The incident required a significant response due to the nature of the building and the location of the fire within the roof structure. Firefighters worked diligently to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the surrounding area.
