Trentino, September 7 – A Cessna light aircraft carrying three Munich residents crash-landed on a ski slope in Trentino, northern Italy, on Monday afternoon, injuring all three occupants. The pilot reportedly attempted an emergency landing on a ski piste after experiencing a technical malfunction, according to Italian mountain rescue services.
Technical Malfunction Led to Emergency Landing
The incident occurred in the Brentonico area. Authorities reported that the Cessna light aircraft suffered a technical fault, causing it to rapidly lose altitude. The pilot’s attempt to make an emergency landing on a ski slope in the San Valentino ski area resulted in a violent impact with the sloping terrain. The aircraft eventually came to a halt on the piste.
“Upon arrival, we found the aircraft on the ski slope. The occupants had managed to make an emergency call themselves,” stated a spokesperson for the Italian mountain rescue.
Munich Family Aboard, One Seriously Injured
The three individuals on board were identified as a man and a woman in their early 60s, and their approximately 20-year-old daughter. All three are residents of Munich. One occupant sustained more serious injuries, while the other two suffered minor injuries. All three were rescued by emergency services and airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Emergency teams, including firefighters, police, and mountain rescuers, were dispatched to the scene after the occupants made an emergency call. They successfully extricated and provided initial care to the injured passengers.
