Berlin, September 17 – Police have apprehended a 42-year-old man in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district in connection with a knife attack in Potsdam that left one person seriously injured. The arrest was made on Thursday afternoon by special operations forces of the Brandenburg police.
Suspect Located in Charlottenburg
According to a police spokesperson, the suspect, aged 42, was located in Charlottenburg around noon on Thursday. Shortly thereafter, he was taken into custody by a special police unit. Following his arrest, an investigating judge ordered his placement in a psychiatric hospital.
Details of the Potsdam Stabbing
The man is alleged to have stabbed a 36-year-old man in the upper body with a knife on Tuesday in the “Am Stern” district of Potsdam. The victim, according to the West Police Directorate, underwent emergency surgery at a hospital. While seriously injured, his life is not believed to be in danger.

During the search for the suspect, investigators did not find him at his apartment. However, they did discover a dog there, which had to be shot. The exact motives behind the attack remain unclear as the investigation is ongoing.
