Berlin, September 22, 2026 – In a significant operation last Friday, Berlin police in the Friedrichshain district seized 2.7 kilograms of cocaine, approximately 900 grams of ecstasy, as well as MDMA, ketamine, and hashish. The discovery was reportedly made after officers from the 13th and 14th riot police units observed a drug handover.
Undercover Observation Leads to Major Drug Bust
Plainclothes officers subsequently checked two individuals on Jessnerstraße. Cocaine was reportedly found on a 31-year-old woman. According to the police report, a 21-year-old man was found with a four-digit sum of cash and a car key, which was linked to a vehicle parked nearby.
A judicial search warrant was quickly obtained, and officers found a “not insignificant amount” of cocaine in a hidden compartment within the vehicle, along with several smartphones. This led to a search of the suspect’s residential address.
Further Discoveries at Residential Address
At the residential address, additional narcotics were confiscated. Officers encountered an 18-year-old woman there, in whose bag various drugs and a four-digit sum of money were also secured. A search warrant was then obtained for the 18-year-old’s residential address.
There, officers found two men, aged 18 and 19, and discovered “a not insignificant quantity of various narcotics throughout the apartment.” In total, law enforcement secured:
- 2.7 kilograms of cocaine
- Approximately 900 grams of ecstasy
- MDMA, ketamine, and hashish
- A loaded firearm with ammunition
- Two protective vest covers with police insignia
- A knife
- 6,000 euros in cash
- Extensive packaging material
The four suspects were released after identification procedures. The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) has taken over further investigations.
Unusual Firearm and Other Items of Interest
Among the items seized was an unusual firearm: a worn Model 1910/22, manufactured by FN Herstal in the 1920s. The rear sight and safety mechanism were missing. Images released by the Berlin police also showed various ecstasy pills, some shaped like Pacman and a man with a hat, and tubes containing an unknown drug.
The protective vests with “Police” insignia found at the scene raise questions about the suspects’ intentions and potential impersonation. The LKA’s ongoing investigation will likely delve into these aspects.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Berlin police to combat drug trafficking in the city, particularly in areas known for such activities. The substantial quantity of drugs and the presence of a firearm underscore the serious nature of the criminal enterprise uncovered.
