Berlin, September 28 – Extremism expert Ahmad Mansour has launched a scathing critique of Berlin’s Left Party, alleging a systemic issue with antisemitism and accusing the party of disparaging the police while downplaying extremism. Mansour’s comments were made on Monday during an appearance on ‘Welt TV’.
Mansour: “This is simply madness”
Mansour expressed strong disapproval of the Left Party’s stance, stating, “This is simply madness.” He highlighted the immense workload faced by the Berlin police since October 7, attributing their struggles to Berlin’s economic situation and a lack of resources and new recruits. “To now see the police as the problem, not the clans, not the criminals, not the Islamists, not the left-wing radicals, but the police, those who work every day under incredible conditions in Berlin and try to ensure security – that is simply madness,” Mansour asserted.
Warning for Berlin’s Liberal Future
Mansour further warned that current approaches risk the future of all liberals in Berlin. He substantiated this warning by criticizing the Left Party’s handling of the police, clan criminality, antisemitism, and deportations. He noted that accusations against institutions and the police are not new, even coming from the top ranks of the Left Party. “So a structural problem: every raid, every engagement with clan criminality is treated as police violence,” Mansour explained.
Antisemitism and Deportation Policies Under Fire
Mansour also took aim at the Left Party’s approach to antisemitism, citing their rejection of the IHRA definition. He pointed out that leading candidates from the party have stated that “every deportation is too much.” Mansour urged consideration of the full implications of such policies: “This means that Islamists and antisemites would not only be allowed to stay in this country but would be naturalized after five years. In the next five years, realities, facts would be created that would make Berlin irreversible.”
Mansour’s critique underscores growing concerns about public safety, the integration of migrant communities, and the fight against various forms of extremism within the German capital. His remarks are expected to ignite further debate within Berlin’s political landscape, particularly as discussions around law enforcement and social cohesion continue to intensify.
