Berlin, October 12, 2026 – Another section of Berlin’s Mauerpark is scheduled for renovation. The area between the amphitheater and the Max-Schmeling-Halle, covering approximately 7,500 square meters, will undergo significant improvements to its paths, technical infrastructure, and vegetation, as announced by the state-owned Grün Berlin.

Amphitheater and Slopes to See Major Upgrades

The amphitheater itself, a popular venue for Sunday karaoke in the summer months, will also be renovated in its peripheral areas, with improved, more accessible stage access. On the slopes, erosion damage will be rectified, and new trees will be planted. The goal is to create robust, climate-adapted green spaces capable of withstanding heavy rainfall, drought, and intensive public use.

Graffiti Areas to Remain Accessible

The graffiti areas on the listed Hinterlandmauer will remain partially accessible during the renovation. Additionally, temporary alternative spaces for graffiti will be established to accommodate artists.

Southern Sections Reopened After Prior Works

Large sections south of the amphitheater, towards Eberswalder Straße, are now reopened following earlier construction work. These areas also saw the renovation of meadows, planting of trees, and installation of irrigation and drainage infrastructure. However, some smaller sections will remain closed to allow newly established meadows to take root.

Completion Expected by Spring 2027

The renovation of the Sonnenhügel (Sun Hill), including the amphitheater, is expected to be completed by spring 2027. Following this, the streetball court on Schwedter Straße will undergo renovation.
