Hamburg, July 16 – The public prosecutor’s office has provided further details regarding the cause of death of a 15-year-old girl found deceased in Hamburg-Bramfeld last week. According to authorities, the teenager died from bleeding. She was discovered fatally injured in an apartment on Berner Chaussee.
Skull-Brain Trauma Also Identified
In addition to the fatal bleeding, a skull-brain trauma was also identified in the girl, a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office stated on Thursday. The spokesperson did not provide any information on the possible course of events, as investigations are still ongoing.
Mother Arrested, Warrant Issued
On Monday, a judge issued an arrest warrant for the mother, in whose apartment the girl was found dead in the early hours of Sunday morning. “The accused has not yet commented on the matter,” the public prosecutor’s office reported.
The 15-year-old did not live with her 43-year-old mother but resided in a youth residence. After the teenager failed to return to her facility, she was reported missing on Saturday evening. Police then went to the mother’s apartment in the night to Sunday. Shortly before 2:00 AM, officers found the girl fatally injured there. An emergency doctor was called but could only confirm her death.
Police subsequently described the incident as involving “massive violence.” According to NDR information, the weapon used was reportedly an axe. The mother was arrested. Police indicate that there are signs she may be suffering from a mental illness. The homicide commission and the public prosecutor’s office are now investigating the case.
Classmates Bid Farewell
On Monday, classmates of the deceased 15-year-old gathered at the residential building in Bramfeld to say goodbye. People laid candles, teddy bears, and balloons in front of the entrance. The shock in the neighborhood is considerable. Neighbors told NDR Hamburg that the 43-year-old mother has reportedly been severely mentally ill for some time, with self-harm also being mentioned.
The public prosecutor’s office and police continue their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
