79-year-old man fatally struck by S-Bahn in Munich

Munich, March 9, 2026 – A 79-year-old man was fatally struck by an S-Bahn train in Munich yesterday. The incident occurred between the Freiham and Harthaus stations as the man attempted to cross the tracks, according to a police spokeswoman.

Tragic Accident on S-Bahn Tracks

The man was reportedly crossing the tracks when he saw the approaching S-Bahn. He attempted to run off the tracks but was hit by the S8 line train, which was traveling in the direction of Herrsching. He died at the scene of the accident.

The police have not yet determined where the man was headed when he attempted to cross the tracks. The driver and passengers of the S-Bahn were unharmed in the incident.

Disruptions to Train Services

As a result of the accident, S-Bahn services were disrupted for several hours. The traffic police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
