In response to the city’s demands, Autobahn GmbH stated that the work would proceed as planned. They highlighted that, according to Deutsche Bahn, the railway line between Lüneburg and Hanover will be completely closed from June 14. This will further reduce morning train connections between Lüneburg and Hamburg, making any subsequent A39 closure an even greater burden for commuters.
Furthermore, Autobahn GmbH explained that a road renovation starting after July 10 is not feasible, as the designated diversion route through the municipality of Bardowick (Lüneburg district) will undergo its own repairs from July. Construction work from October onwards is also ruled out due to potential adverse weather conditions, underscoring the urgency of the current schedule.
