Munich, February 5 – A humanoid robot, Agile One, symbolically inaugurated Europe’s largest AI factory in Munich this week, marking a pivotal moment for European technological sovereignty. The ceremony celebrated the launch of the new Telekom Industrial AI Cloud, a high-performance infrastructure designed specifically for industrial artificial intelligence applications.
Symbolic Start for a New Era of Industrial AI
The event, held at Munich’s Tucherpark, saw the humanoid robot Agile One press the start button, initiating a new phase for industrial AI in Europe. This high-performance cloud infrastructure is a collaborative project between Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA, aiming to provide European companies with a sovereign and powerful solution for their AI needs.
For Munich-based Agile Robots, the developer of Agile One, access to this computing power is crucial. The company relies on this infrastructure to train the complex AI models that power its autonomous systems. The message from the event was clear: “This is the beginning of ‘Physical AI’ – where intelligent robots understand and act in the physical world.”
Industrial AI from European Hands
This new facility is Europe’s first cloud infrastructure developed exclusively for industrial artificial intelligence. It offers European companies a powerful and secure alternative to non-European data centers, emphasizing data sovereignty and regional control.
Agile Robots is a key initial client. Founded in 2018 as a spin-off from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the company has its headquarters and a significant research center in Munich. With over 1,000 AI and robotics experts and more than 20,000 solutions installed globally, Agile Robots is doubling its revenue annually, demonstrating rapid growth and innovation in the field.
Agile One: The Humanoid Colleague for the Factory Floor
The Agile One is not a product of science fiction but is engineered for practical industrial deployment. Unveiled in November 2025, this 1.74-meter tall, 69-kilogram robot is designed for tasks such as material handling, machine operation, and intricate assembly work.
Its key strengths include one of the most dexterous robotic hands globally and an AI trained with extensive industrial data. Equipped with cameras and LiDAR sensors, it perceives its environment, while a chest display and expressive “eyes” facilitate intuitive communication with human co-workers. Serial production of the robot, manufactured in Bavaria, is slated to commence in spring 2026.
Competitive Advantage for European Industry
This collaboration creates a robust ecosystem for the next industrial revolution. Agile Robots manages its entire robot fleet, from gripping arms to mobile platforms, through its proprietary software platform, AgileCore. This holistic approach is expected to drive new levels of efficiency, particularly in the automotive and electronics industries.
With the newly available computing power, Agile Robots aims to rapidly advance the intelligence of its systems. By 2027, the company plans to scale up the production of Agile One to between 5,000 and 10,000 units per year.
