Air Serbia Returns to Munich Airport with Daily Belgrade Flights
Munich, May 2, 2026 – After an 18-year hiatus, Air Serbia is making a significant return to Munich Airport, re-establishing daily direct flights to Belgrade. This strategic move, commencing on May 22, 2026, aims to bridge a crucial gap in the airport’s flight network and enhance connectivity between Bavaria and the Balkan region.
The last time the Serbian airline operated flights from the Bavarian capital was nearly two decades ago. The reintroduction of this route is expected to provide substantial benefits for both business and leisure travelers.
Flight Details and Schedule
Air Serbia will deploy Embraer E 195 aircraft for the Munich-Belgrade route, each configured with 118 seats, accommodating passengers in both Business and Economy classes. The direct flight duration is approximately one and a half hours, according to Munich Airport officials.
The flight schedule will vary depending on the day of the week:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: Departure from Munich at 9:30 AM, with the corresponding flight from Belgrade departing at 7:10 AM.
- Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays: Departure from Munich at 8:15 PM, with the corresponding flight from Belgrade departing at 5:55 PM.
Tickets for these new direct flights are already available for booking.
Statements from Airport and Airline Leadership
Jost Lammers, Chairman of the Management Board of Flughafen München GmbH, expressed his enthusiasm for Air Serbia’s return. “We are very pleased that Air Serbia is returning to Munich, coinciding with the opening of our new Terminal 1 pier. By resuming this connection, the airline strengthens important flight connections to Serbia and the entire Balkan region, thereby expanding the offerings for travelers at Munich Airport,” Lammers stated.
Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the strategic importance of the new route. “With the direct connection between Munich and Belgrade, we are connecting Serbia with Bavaria, one of Europe’s most dynamic regions. This route offers genuine added value for both business travelers and tourists in both directions.” Marek also emphasized that Belgrade serves as a key hub, offering numerous connecting flights to the wider Balkan region and beyond.
Enhancing Regional Connectivity
The re-establishment of this direct route underscores Munich Airport’s commitment to expanding its international network and catering to the growing demand for travel to Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The Balkan region, with its increasing economic ties and tourism potential, represents a vital market for the airport.
The return of Air Serbia also aligns with the ongoing development of Munich Airport’s infrastructure, including the new Terminal 1 pier, which aims to enhance the passenger experience and accommodate a larger volume of flights and travelers.
The reintroduction of direct flights is anticipated to facilitate stronger economic and cultural exchanges between Germany and Serbia, offering convenience and efficiency for passengers who previously faced longer travel times or layovers.
This development is a positive indicator for the aviation industry’s recovery and growth, demonstrating confidence in the demand for international travel and the strategic importance of Munich as a European aviation hub.
