Major Police Operation in Munich-Bogenhausen Due to Armed Man
Munich, March 22 – A significant police operation unfolded in the Bogenhausen district of Munich on Sunday morning after witnesses reported seeing an armed man. The incident, which occurred around 7:25 AM on Daglfinger Street, involved a 26-year-old man wielding both a knife and a grill fork. The man appeared to be in a psychologically unstable state, mumbling incoherently, prompting residents to immediately contact the police.
Rapid Deployment of Police and Special Forces
Upon receiving the emergency call, the police headquarters promptly dispatched approximately 15 patrol cars to the scene. Due to the potentially dangerous nature of the situation, a special unit, the SEK (Spezialeinsatzkommando), was also deployed. SEK officers are equipped with specialized chainmail vests for protection against knife attacks, highlighting the seriousness with which the threat was perceived.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the man on the street did not respond to repeated attempts by officers to engage with him or to their demands to drop his weapons. Consequently, the SEK officers were compelled to overpower the suspect. The 26-year-old man was subsequently apprehended, restrained, and taken into custody.
Hospitalization and Ongoing Investigation
Following his apprehension, the individual was admitted to a psychiatric facility due to concerns for his own safety and the safety of others. The case has been handed over to Precinct 14, which has initiated further investigations into the incident. At this stage, no further details regarding the man’s identity or the specific circumstances leading to his behavior have been released by the authorities.
The incident temporarily disrupted the calm of the Bogenhausen neighborhood, underscoring the swift and decisive action taken by Munich’s police force to ensure public safety.
