Arson Attack at Munich Vocational School Causes Extensive Damage
Munich, April 27 – Unknown individuals deliberately set fire to the Vocational School for Law and Administration on Astrid-Lindgren-Straße in the Riem district of Munich last Friday. The men’s restroom on the first floor was severely damaged, with the antechamber and one cubicle completely burnt out. The total damage is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of euros, and the Criminal Police are currently investigating the incident.
Fire Discovered After Automatic Alarm
The automatic fire alarm system was triggered shortly after 8:00 PM. The last employee had left the school building around 3:30 PM, indicating that the fire must have been set within this timeframe. According to police reports, no signs of forced entry were found at the school building, raising questions about how the perpetrator gained access.
Rapid Response by Firefighters and Police
The professional fire brigade and several police patrols were immediately dispatched to the scene. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze in the men’s restroom under control. However, in addition to the direct fire damage, the building sustained significant damage from smoke and soot. Police estimate the total damage to be in the tens of thousands of euros. Precinct 13 of the Munich Police Department has taken over the ongoing investigation.
Suspicion of Arson Confirmed
A police spokesperson confirmed on Monday that the investigation strongly suggests intentional arson. The perpetrators reportedly ignited a paper towel dispenser and toilet paper, leading to the rapid spread of the fire within the restroom area.

The police are appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who observed anything suspicious in the vicinity of Astrid-Lindgren-Straße in Riem during the specified timeframe (between 3:30 PM and 8:00 PM last Friday) that could be related to this incident is urged to come forward.
