Berlin Gears Up for Inaugural WTT Feeder Tournament
Berlin, August 17, 2026 – The German capital is set to host its very first World Table Tennis (WTT) Feeder tournament from August 19 to 23. This event marks the 13th WTT Feeder competition to be held in Germany, following previous successful editions organized by Borussia Düsseldorf and the German Table Tennis Federation (DTTB). This year, the prestigious ttc berlin eastside, a leading women’s table tennis club, will take the reins as the organizer.
Over 100 Players Expected at TTDome Heyse25
The ttc berlin eastside is anticipating approximately 110 players from around the globe to converge at the TTDome Heyse25. Over five days, four tables will witness intense competition as athletes vie for titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories. The tournament promises to be a melting pot of nations, showcasing diverse talent in the sport.
Strong German Contingent, Especially in Women’s Singles
Germany’s representation in the tournament is small but formidable, particularly in the women’s singles category. The host club, ttc berlin eastside, boasts several strong contenders for medals:
- Nina Mittelham: Currently in excellent form, Mittelham is seeded second.
- Natalia Bajor: Her Polish club colleague follows closely in the rankings.
Other top title contenders include Yeh Yi-Tian from Taiwan and Zeng Jian from Singapore. Young German talents Josephina “Josi” Neumann and Mia Griesel will also feature in the main draw, entering with wildcards at positions 23 and 24, alongside their national teammate Franziska Schreiner.
These four German players will bypass the two-day qualification rounds, where eight remaining spots in the main draw will be contested. In the women’s qualification, Sophia Klee and Lorena Morsch will represent Germany.
In the highly competitive men’s field, German junior players are not considered medal favorites. Tom Schweiger is directly in the main draw, while the 2025 German U19 champion, Lleyton Ullmann, will compete in the qualification rounds. The men’s field is led by Feng Yi-Hsin (Taiwan), Elias Ranefur (Sweden), Cedric Nuytinck (Belgium), and Isaac Quek (Singapore).
Tournament Schedule: Qualification to Main Draws
The competition kicks off on Wednesday, August 19, with the two-day qualification rounds. The main draws for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles will commence on Friday, August 21.
Andreas Hain, manager of ttc berlin eastside, expressed his excitement about Berlin’s Feeder debut, which will run concurrently with the Mediterranean Games and a Bundesliga match day.
