COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, remains a significant focus. In the last week, Berlin registered 8 new COVID-19 cases. The 7-day incidence rate for COVID-19 across all age groups in Berlin currently stands at 0.2 per 100,000 inhabitants. The highest incidence, at 1.3, is observed in the over-80 age group, with 3 new cases reported in this demographic. Acute Respiratory and Flu-like Illnesses on the Rise in Eastern Germany

Beyond specific viruses, the RKI also tracks acute respiratory illnesses (ARE) and influenza-like illnesses (ILI). For calendar week 12 of 2026, the estimated weekly incidence of ARE in the Eastern German region, which includes Berlin, was 6,500 per 100,000 inhabitants.
