Berlin, August 1 – The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) has issued warnings for two popular swimming spots on the Havel River, Breitehorn and Radfahrerwiese, due to a significant proliferation of blue-green algae. While most of Berlin’s bathing areas remain safe for swimming, these two locations are currently experiencing very poor visibility, which could hinder potential water rescue operations.
Massive Algae Bloom Affects Havel River Spots
According to Lageso’s water quality assessment, both Breitehorn and Radfahrerwiese are grappling with a massive bloom of blue-green algae.
