Brawl Erupts Between Wiesn Groups on Munich S-Bahn, Several Sustain Minor Injuries
Munich, September 28 – A violent confrontation between two groups of Oktoberfest attendees took place on an S-Bahn train heading towards Aying early on Sunday morning, September 27. The incident, which occurred shortly after the train departed Neuperlach station around 1:00 AM, involved several individuals and left multiple men with minor injuries.
Altercation Initiated by Slovak Nationals, Escalates Between Groups
According to the Federal Police, the dispute began when two Slovak nationals, aged 42 and 49, allegedly assaulted two German men, aged 20 and 23, by striking them in the face. This initial attack quickly escalated into a broader physical altercation between the 23-year-old German and the two Slovak men.
The train continued its journey until both groups exited at Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn station. There, officers from Police Inspection 28 intervened to separate the individuals before handing them over to a Federal Police patrol.
Police Investigations Underway, Alcohol Levels High Among Participants
The Federal Police have initiated investigations. The two Slovak men are being investigated on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm and property damage. The 23-year-old German is also under investigation on suspicion of bodily harm. Voluntary breath alcohol tests conducted on the participants revealed significant levels, ranging from 1.06 to 2.86 per mille, suggesting a high degree of intoxication.
Minor Injuries and Property Damage Reported
During the altercation, the 23-year-old man from the Munich district had his traditional Bavarian vest torn. All four individuals involved sustained minor injuries. Paramedics provided on-site treatment to the 20-year-old man, also from the Munich district, while the other three individuals did not require medical attention. Following the conclusion of police procedures, all four men were permitted to continue their journeys home.
The incident highlights concerns about public order and safety during the Oktoberfest period, particularly on public transport routes used by revellers returning from the festival. Authorities continue to monitor such situations closely to ensure the safety of all passengers.
