Berlin, Germany – A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday morning in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Berlin, leaving a 47-year-old car driver with life-threatening injuries. The incident took place on Landsberger Allee, shortly before the Brodowiner Ring tram stop, when the driver attempted to turn left and collided with a M6 tram traveling in the same direction.
Driver Extricated with Severe Injuries
According to reports from the Berlin police via the online service X, the car driver was trapped in his vehicle following the collision and had to be extricated by the fire department. A police spokesperson confirmed in a video statement that the driver was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, though his condition has since stabilized and he is no longer in critical danger. The 48-year-old tram driver also received outpatient treatment at a clinic.
Accident Details and Road Closures
The accident happened around 8:00 AM. During the accident investigation and cleanup, Landsberger Allee was closed outbound between Blumberger Damm and Prötzeler Ring, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area.
Previous Tram Accident in Adlershof
This incident follows another severe tram accident in Berlin just last Friday. In that separate event, a pedestrian was struck and trapped under a tram near the Adlershof S-Bahn station. Firefighters successfully freed the woman, who was then taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
