Clothing Drive at Gleisdreieck U-Bahn Station: Berliners Asked to Donate for the Homeless

Berlin, April 13 – The Berliner Stadtmission, in collaboration with the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), is organizing a clothing drive at the Gleisdreieck U-Bahn station to collect well-preserved clothes and shoes for homeless individuals. The collection is scheduled for today, April 13, and tomorrow, April 14, providing a crucial opportunity for residents to support those in need.

Collection Times and Most Needed Items

Donations can be dropped off at the Gleisdreieck U-Bahn station today, Monday, April 13, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. An additional collection time is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. According to the Stadtmission, there is a particular demand for men’s transitional jackets, hoodies, T-shirts, close-fitting boxer shorts, socks, and trousers. Men’s shoes and sneakers are also urgently needed.

The aid organization emphasizes the importance of donating items that are in good condition and clean. “The clothing should be intact and clean and suitable for the season – as if something were being passed on to friends,” stated a representative from the Berliner Stadtmission. Additionally, sleeping bags and blankets are still sought after to help individuals cope with the persisting cold nights.

Ongoing Partnership and Previous Successes

This initiative is part of an ongoing collaboration between the BVG and the Berliner Stadtmission, who regularly team up for charitable actions. During the 2025/2026 winter season, a joint effort by the BVG, Berliner Stadtmission, and the Berlin Johanniter successfully collected 130 sacks of clothing and everyday items, demonstrating the positive impact of such partnerships.

Alternative Donation Options

For those unable to make it to the Gleisdreieck U-Bahn station during the specified times, clothing can still be donated directly at the Berliner Stadtmission, for instance, at their clothing store. This ensures that support for the homeless community in Berlin continues beyond this specific event.

The clothing drive underscores the commitment of local organizations and public transport services to address the needs of vulnerable populations in Berlin, especially as the weather remains unpredictable during the transitional period between winter and spring.
