Eisbären Berlin Bolster Attack with Jean-Luc Foudy Signing
Berlin, September 22 – The Eisbären Berlin, reigning German champions, have officially announced the acquisition of Canadian forward Jean-Luc Foudy. Foudy makes the move from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) and has signed a contract with the capital club for the ongoing season, where he will wear jersey number 55.
Foudy’s Career Highlights and Experience
Drafted in the third round, 75th overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in 2020, Foudy has primarily played in North America, apart from a brief stint in Sweden during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has 13 NHL appearances for Colorado, scoring one goal. In the AHL, Foudy has played a total of 307 games for the Colorado Eagles and Iowa Wild, tallying 42 goals and 101 assists. Last year, he also represented the Canadian national team at the prestigious Spengler Cup.
Strategic Acquisition to Strengthen Offense
Eisbären Sports Director Stéphane Richer emphasized the strategic importance of this signing. “Patrick Khodorenko will be out for an extended period. Therefore, we decided to strengthen our offense once again. Jean-Luc is a dynamic two-way forward who will bring a lot of energy to our offensive game,” Richer stated.
Richer highlighted Foudy’s key attributes: “Jean-Luc’s great strength is his speed, which accelerates the game and fits very well into our system. He is an intelligent forward who can play both on the wing and as a center. Thanks to his time in Sweden, he is already familiar with European ice hockey, so he won’t need a long adjustment period.”

Jean-Luc Foudy expressed his excitement about joining the Berlin-based team. “I am really looking forward to being part of the Eisbären and such a successful organization. I can’t wait to finally get started and hit the ice with my new teammates,” Foudy commented.
Impact on Roster and Foreign Player Licenses
Due to his ongoing rehabilitation, Patrick Khodorenko has not yet been licensed by the Eisbären. With this new signing, the Berlin club has now allocated nine foreign player licenses. Out of a total of eleven license holders, only nine are permitted to be listed on the game sheet per match and thus participate in PENNY DEL league games.
