Munich, July 30, 2026 – Woolworth marked a significant milestone with the grand opening of its largest store in Europe, located in the ‘daseinstein’ shopping center at Einsteinstraße 130 in Munich-Haidhausen. The event, characterized by a large turnout and enthusiastic atmosphere, drew numerous curious visitors.

Grand Opening Draws Large Crowds

Approximately 30 minutes before the official opening at 9 AM, a long queue had already formed outside the entrance. Punctually at the start, Southern Regional Manager Mario Wagner and Store Manager Dragan Vulosavljevic welcomed the many guests. Following the presentation of flowers, the symbolic ribbon was cut, officially inaugurating Europe’s largest Woolworth store.

Spanning an impressive 2,924 square meters of retail space across two floors, the store now offers the most extensive Woolworth product range in Europe. The focus is on affordable women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, complemented by household goods, decorative items, drugstore products, electronics, and many other daily necessities. The assortment includes approximately 10,000 permanently available items, along with about 8,000 promotional and seasonal products.

Strategic Growth and Customer Engagement

The new location underscores the company’s growth strategy, demonstrating Woolworth’s consistent investment in stationary retail despite challenging economic times. The accompanying program also generated considerable excitement. A moderator engaged with the crowd outside the store, visitors had the chance to win attractive giveaways at a prize wheel, and the first 700 customers received a free Dickies Motor Mutants toy with their purchase.

With this new opening, Woolworth’s Munich branch network expands to a total of 14 locations. Across Europe, Woolworth now operates over 1,000 stores and continues its consistent expansion course. In 2026 alone, the company plans more than 80 additional new openings and approximately 2,000 new jobs. The new flagship store in Munich-Haidhausen serves as a visible sign of these ambitious growth plans and is expected to quickly become a popular shopping destination.

Store Details and Future Outlook

The store is located at Einsteinstraße 130, 81675 Munich, and is open from 9 AM to 8 PM. This expansion highlights Woolworth’s commitment to strengthening its presence in key European markets and providing a wide range of affordable products to its customers.

The company’s continuous growth and strategic investments indicate a strong belief in the future of brick-and-mortar retail, adapting to evolving consumer needs while maintaining its core value proposition of affordability and variety.
