FC Bayern Prioritizes Musiala’s Recovery, Rules Out Replacement

Munich, August 19 – Following Jamal Musiala’s recent collapse during a test match against second-division side 1. FC Heidenheim, FC Bayern Munich has reportedly made a definitive transfer decision. According to “Sky” reports, the club has no plans to sign a replacement for the national player, instead focusing on his complete recovery.

The 23-year-old midfielder has the full backing of the German record champions, who are committed to providing him with the necessary time for a full recovery and return to the pitch. Patience and time are paramount after two collapses within a few days.

Musiala’s management issued a statement on Wednesday to “RTL” and “Sky Sport” regarding the incident: “Jamal will, of course, continue his career normally. He and the treating neurologists are convinced that he will be symptom-free and reach his old level – especially since his foot no longer causes problems, and he has already been able to show in his appearances that he can return to his former self. The past few weeks have made everyone here very confident. FC Bayern supports him in all areas.”

In Musiala’s absence, Bayern has high-caliber alternatives for the number ten position, including Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry, who are both recovering from injuries, and new signing Ismael Saibari.

Chief Scout Nils Schmadtke’s Future Under Scrutiny Amidst Criticism

Speculation surrounding the potential departure of FC Bayern’s chief scout, Nils Schmadtke, has been firmly refuted by sporting director Max Eberl. Following the test match victory against 1. FC Heidenheim, Eberl stated, “I cannot confirm that. Nils still has a year on his contract, as do I.” He emphasized that the current squad is the result of the entire sporting management’s work, which includes Schmadtke.

Earlier, “TZ” reported that Munich was considering parting ways with Schmadtke and had identified Christopher Vivell as a potential successor. The report suggested that Schmadtke’s leadership style was internally controversial, and his future could influence contract negotiations with Eberl.

Eberl criticized the public debate surrounding his long-time confidant: “One can always discuss the quality of work of individuals,” said Eberl, adding, “But what is happening right now, this whole wave that is emerging – I honestly find that too much. We should still remember that we are talking about people. Whether he continues at Bayern or not: we should not defame people. That’s a touch too much for me right now, what is being written about Nils Schmadtke.”

Palhinha Loan to Aston Villa Reportedly Back in Discussion

Joao Palhinha’s future at FC Bayern remains uncertain, with Aston Villa reportedly re-entering serious talks for the Portuguese midfielder. According to “The Athletic,” the English club has resumed discussions with Munich and is confident of reaching an agreement.

This development is surprising, given that Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl had declared talks with Aston Villa as failed just days prior. “You read that Aston Villa contacted us about Joao. That’s correct. But we won’t reach an agreement with Aston Villa; it simply won’t work. Because we are not in a situation where we have to do what others impose on us,” Eberl had said. Villa had reportedly proposed a loan with an option to buy, while Bayern preferred a direct sale.

However, a loan now seems plausible again. “There are so many different ways nowadays to secure certain things. If you have a loan where someone says we are willing to pay a high loan fee, then you would have to accept that,” Eberl explained during the Telekom Cup against RB Leipzig.

Palhinha was absent from the preparatory match due to ongoing concrete discussions about a potential transfer. The Portuguese newspaper “A Bola” reported that Benfica is still in the running and has even agreed on a four-year contract with Palhinha, offering Bayern 15 million euros plus potential bonuses. However, the Portuguese player reportedly still prefers a move to the Premier League.

Bayern Chief Scout Nils Schmadtke Reportedly Facing Exit

Reports emerged on Monday that Bayern Munich’s chief scout, Nils Schmadtke, is likely facing an exit from the record champions. According to “tz,” he is under immense internal pressure.

The report suggests that sporting director Max Eberl was recently informed that he must part ways with his close confidant, Schmadtke. This measure is reportedly one of the conditions for an extension of Eberl’s contract beyond 2027.

Eberl brought Schmadtke to Säbener Straße in autumn 2024, and Schmadtke subsequently made significant changes to the record champion’s scouting department. Schmadtke reportedly focused more on live scouting on-site, which, however, is associated with high costs and considerable organizational effort.

Schmadtke’s transfer record to date is reportedly viewed critically within the club. Additionally, the chief scout’s demeanor has occasionally drawn criticism.

Christopher Vivell of Manchester United is being considered as a potential successor to Schmadtke. Vivell is a confidant of Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund, having worked together at Red Bull Salzburg. Vivell’s contract with the “Red Devils” expires in summer 2027.

Benfica Plans Special Model for Palhinha Acquisition

Benfica Lisbon is reportedly still pursuing Joao Palhinha from FC Bayern. According to the Portuguese sports newspaper “O Jogo,” after their initial loan proposal was rejected, officials have now put forward an alternative model.

The transfer fee for the midfielder is reportedly to be paid in two installments – one this summer and the second next year. However, it remains uncertain whether Bayern will agree to this model. The German record champions are reportedly demanding at least 25 million euros for the 31-year-old.

For Benfica, Palhinha is reportedly the absolute desired player of coach Marco Silva. The Portuguese coach knows the defensive midfielder from their time together at Fulham FC.

FC Bayern Reportedly Testing Uruguayan Talent Dudok

FC Bayern is reportedly set to test a talent from Uruguay on its training ground soon. According to journalist Santiago Acevedo, the Munich club will test 19-year-old winger Rodrigo Dudok from Racing Club in Montevideo for ten days.

Dudok is a left winger who has also been active in various youth national teams for his country. If he proves himself during the trial, he could potentially take on the backup role of Luis Diaz in the record champions’ squad and compete for playing time with returning loanee Arijon Ibrahimovic.

Since 2023, Red&Gold Football, a joint venture of FC Bayern and MLS franchise Los Angeles FC, has held the majority shares in Racing Club.

Dudok has scored one goal in eleven competitive appearances so far.
