Munich, Bavaria, Germany – July 1, 2026 – FC Bayern Munich has confirmed the acquisition of Ismael Saibari, a highly-rated 25-year-old attacking midfielder, from Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven. The transfer, announced today, sees Saibari commit to the Bavarian giants until June 30, 2031. He is currently on duty with the Moroccan national team at the World Cup in North America and will link up with his new teammates in Munich following the tournament.

Saibari to Bolster Bayern’s Attack

Ismael Saibari, who will don the number 34 shirt for FC Bayern, is expected to significantly strengthen the club’s offensive options. His versatility and proven track record at the highest level have made him a sought-after talent.

Max Eberl, FC Bayern’s Board Member for Sport, expressed his enthusiasm for the signing: “We are delighted to have secured Ismael Saibari, one of the most exciting attacking players at this World Cup, for FC Bayern. Transfers like this don’t happen spontaneously; they are the result of forward-thinking work. It was crucial that we positioned ourselves early, as we were aware of Ismael’s abilities and were able to offer him a clear perspective from the outset. Ismael Saibari will bring additional quality and unpredictability to our attacking play.”

Christoph Freund, FC Bayern’s Sporting Director, echoed these sentiments: “Ismael Saibari has won the Dutch championship three times in a row with Eindhoven, has Champions League experience, and is now demonstrating at the highest level at the World Cup how valuable he can be for a team. He is versatile, intense, courageous in his play, possesses exactly the hunger we want to see at FC Bayern, and with his goal threat and mentality, he will do the team good. Fans come to the stadium for players like him.”

Player’s Ambition and Coach Kompany’s Influence

Saibari himself shared his excitement about joining one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. “As a child, you dream of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern – everyone knows that this is one of the biggest clubs in the world. FC Bayern competes for the most important titles, like the Champions League, every year, and I want to win as many titles as possible here. FC Bayern’s style suits me; I can play my game here and will work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany played a big role in my decision – I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

His new jersey is already available for purchase in the official FC Bayern Online Store.

A Stellar Career Trajectory

Born in Terrassa, Spain, Saibari began his football journey in the youth academy of RSC Anderlecht. He then moved to the U19 team of KRC Genk before joining PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2020. Within months, he made his debut in the Dutch top flight. During his time at Eindhoven, he made 142 appearances, scoring 42 goals and providing 29 assists. He won the Dutch Championship three times, the Super Cup three times, and the KNVB Cup twice. This season, he was named “Footballer of the Year” in the Netherlands.

Saibari, who holds Moroccan citizenship due to his heritage, has been a key player for the reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions since 2023. He currently boasts an impressive record of 12 goals in 34 appearances for his national team. At the ongoing World Cup, he has been instrumental, scoring crucial goals in the 1-1 draw against Brazil, the 1-0 victory over Scotland, and the 4-2 win against Haiti. He also converted the decisive penalty in the Round of 16 triumph against the Netherlands.
