Franconian Lake District Promotes Tourism at Munich Fair

Munich, February 26 – The Franconian Lake District successfully presented its diverse tourism offerings, with a special focus on cycling tours and leisure activities, at the f.re.e travel and leisure fair in Munich. The event, held from February 18 to 22, 2026, drew more than 130,000 attendees, providing a significant platform for regional promotion.

Positive Outcome for the Seenland Team

Hans-Dieter Niederprüm, Managing Director of the Franconian Lake District Tourist Association, expressed satisfaction with the fair’s outcome. “The Munich exhibition audience doesn’t have far to travel to the Franconian Lake District – and unlike many lakes in southern Bavaria, our water landscapes are accessible to everyone. Many fair visitors were immediately enthusiastic about our cycling tours and specifically sought information about our cycling routes and leisure opportunities,” Niederprüm stated.

The Seenland team spent five days answering numerous questions and distributing information materials to interested visitors, highlighting the region’s accessibility and diverse recreational options.

New Leisure Guide “Experience & Enjoy” Introduced

A highlight at the Franconian Lake District’s stand was the newly published leisure guide, titled “Erleben & Genießen” (Experience & Enjoy). This handy guide offers tips for all interests and weather conditions, covering leisure activities, culinary experiences, sights, shopping opportunities, and group offers. Its clear layout, including an overview map and pictograms, makes it easy to find suitable options, especially for families or those traveling by public transport.

Visitors could directly obtain information material on popular long-distance routes such as the “Fränkischer WasserRadweg” (Franconian Water Cycle Path), “Tore-Türme-Schlösser-Radweg” (Gates-Towers-Castles Cycle Path), “BurgenstraßenRadweg” (Castle Road Cycle Path), and the “Tauber-Altmühl-Radweg” (Tauber-Altmühl Cycle Path).

Comprehensive Advice and Support from Tourism Experts

The team at the stand also provided numerous individual tour recommendations and answered a wide range of travel-related questions, from accommodation options to events. Karolin Hofmann, Deputy Managing Director, was supported by tourism experts from the cities of Wolframs-Eschenbach, Roth, Hilpoltstein, and Gunzenhausen, as well as from the municipalities of Pleinfeld, Absberg, and Pfofeld. The Brombachsee adventure shipping company also reinforced the exhibition team, ensuring comprehensive visitor support.

This concerted effort at the f.re.e fair underscores the Franconian Lake District’s commitment to promoting its unique attractions and enhancing its appeal as a premier tourist destination in Bavaria.
