Berlin, July 24 – Handball-Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin kicked off their pre-season with a decisive victory, defeating regional league team Grün-Weiß Werder 41:27 (21:15) in Brandenburg. The match, held yesterday, marked the first test for the Berlin squad as they prepare for the new season.
Gidsel and West av Teigum Lead Scoring
World Handball Player Mathias Gidsel was the top scorer for Füchse Berlin with seven goals, while Hakun West av Teigum contributed six goals. Their strong offensive performance was a key factor in the team’s clear win.
New Faces on the Court
This game was notable as the first for Füchse without world and European champion Lasse Andersson, who returned to his Danish homeland to Höj Elite after the previous season. National player Matthes Langhoff, who is set to replace Andersson, scored three goals during the match in Werder.
Coach Krickau Expresses Satisfaction
Head Coach Nicolej Krickau commented on the team’s performance, stating, “We’ve only had two days of training so far and even trained this morning. Therefore, I am satisfied that we got through without injuries and that we were able to give playing time to the new and young players.”
Upcoming Test Matches and Supercup
The Füchse have two more test matches scheduled for the weekend. They will face regional league team HSV Insel Usedom on Saturday at 6:00 PM, followed by another test against SSV PCK 90 Schwedt on Sunday at 3:30 PM. The first official match for Füchse Berlin will be the Supercup against champions SC Magdeburg on August 22 in Munich.
