Munich, July 29, 2026 – Bayerische Hausbau Development, in collaboration with Munich’s City Building Councillor Prof. Dr. (Univ. Florence) Elisabeth Merk, Florian Schörghuber, CEO of the Schörghuber Group, and other guests from politics, administration, and the real estate industry, today laid the foundation stone for the Parkside Lerchenauer Feld residential quarter. This festive ceremony signifies a further milestone for the quarter’s development in northern Munich. Following the completion of earthworks and civil engineering, the first buildings of the quarter will now be constructed on the site.
A Major Urban Development Project for Munich
With a total of approximately 1,650 apartments, Lerchenauer Feld is one of the most significant urban development projects in northern Munich. In addition to new housing, the project includes a high school, a primary school, six daycare centers, local amenities, and approximately 32,000 m² of public green spaces. The goal is a mixed-use urban quarter characterized by short distances and efficient social infrastructure. The urban planning concept combines urban density with generous open spaces. Loosely arranged buildings, green courtyards, and a central green corridor create a clear spatial structure, ensuring that living, meeting, and recreation are closely intertwined.
Bayerische Hausbau Development’s Contribution
Bayerische Hausbau Development is developing three construction fields within the new urban quarter. According to current plans, approximately 600 apartments with a total living area of 34,000 m² will be built there. The first construction phase will see the erection of 165 apartments and a daycare center.
“A project of this magnitude requires a long breath. For us, today’s groundbreaking is therefore a very special moment. We are showing that a common plan will ultimately become a quarter that will shape Munich for many decades,” said Gordon Gorski, CEO of Bayerische Hausbau Development. “Munich needs housing. Bayerische Hausbau Development has been active here for over 72 years. We want to be a partner of the city and build.”
“Munich needs new quarters that offer more than just living space. It is crucial that education, open spaces, mobility, social aspects, and local amenities are considered from the outset. Lerchenauer Feld exemplifies this demand for the sustainable development of our city in an exemplary manner. Today’s groundbreaking is an important starting signal for an urban and livable future quarter,” commented Prof. Dr. (Univ. Florence) Elisabeth Merk, City Building Councillor of the City of Munich.
“We invest in Munich and in Germany because we believe in the strength of the location. Munich has successful companies, an outstanding scientific landscape, a diverse cultural life, and many people who develop ideas here, take responsibility, and – above all – seek togetherness. Parkside Lerchenauer Feld shows what can emerge when all actors are willing to jointly overcome the diverse hurdles for new investments,” added Florian Schörghuber, CEO of the Schörghuber Group.
