Hamburg Airport Unveils Summer Schedule: New Destinations and Airline

Hamburg, March 20 – Hamburg Airport is gearing up for the launch of its summer flight schedule at the end of March. The new schedule will see the introduction of new destinations and a new airline operating from Fuhlsbüttel.

“With the start of the summer flight schedule, our route network continues to grow – and in all directions,” said David Liebert, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport.

Direct Flights to Jordan’s Capital

Royal Jordanian will be offering direct flights to Amman, the capital of Jordan. However, the German Foreign Office currently has a travel warning in place for Jordan due to the conflict in the Middle East.

New Destinations: Marrakesh, Kalamata, Bodrum, and Podgorica

Easyjet is adding Marrakesh in Morocco to its program, while Condor is bringing back Kalamata on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula. Ajet will be flying to Bodrum on the Turkish Riviera, and Wizz Air will offer flights to Podgorica in Montenegro.

Increased Connections to Northern and Eastern Europe

From the end of the month, there will also be significantly more connections from Fuhlsbüttel to Northern and Eastern Europe. After a longer break, Scandinavian Airlines is returning with two weekly flights to Oslo. Norwegian is a new addition, flying to Stockholm. Additionally, airBaltic will launch its connection to the Estonian capital, Tallinn.

Furthermore, Corendon Airlines will resume flights to the Egyptian holiday destination of Hurghada from Hamburg, and TAP Air Portugal is expanding its connections to Lisbon. The summer flight schedule will remain in effect until October 24.

Hamburg Airport Invests in New Baggage Handling System

The airport is investing approximately 90 million euros in a new baggage handling system. The complete system is expected to be finished by 2029.

Record Passenger Numbers in Summer Holidays

During the past six weeks of summer holidays, Hamburg Airport saw 2.2 million passengers. The peak day was the Friday of the first week of holidays, with over 55,000 travelers.
