Police Make Swift Arrests After Violent Home Invasion in Bergedorf
Hamburg, August 4 – Hamburg police have announced the arrest of three teenagers in connection with a severe home invasion and robbery that took place on Sunday evening at Billwerder Billdeich in Hamburg-Bergedorf. The arrests, made on Monday afternoon, were the result of a rapid and intensive investigation involving 85 officers, including special units.
The suspects, identified as a 14-year-old and two 16-year-olds, are now in pre-trial detention. A 15-year-old girl from Hamburg-Bergedorf also reported to the police with her parents but was released after questioning.
Victim Attacked with Stabbing Weapon
According to police reports, the incident began when two girls rang the doorbell of a house on Billwerder Billdeich. When the 83-year-old resident opened the door, four masked and armed individuals stormed into the house. On the upper floor, they attacked the 51-year-old relative of the senior citizen, severely injuring him with blows and stabs. Paramedics transported the man, who sustained serious injuries, from the house.
NDR information indicates that the victim is the operator of a DOM fairground ride. It is believed that the perpetrators were targeting his earnings. NDR sources suggest the amount stolen could be several tens of thousands of euros. Police have not confirmed this figure, stating only that cash and jewelry were stolen.
Surveillance Footage Leads to Suspects
The perpetrators initially fled the scene. However, surveillance cameras recorded their actions, and the evaluation of this footage led police to the alleged perpetrators. Investigators believe the suspects knew the victim.
Further Investigations Underway
The State Criminal Police Office and the Hamburg public prosecutor’s office are continuing their investigations into two additional suspects, a man and a woman. The police stated that the three arrested teenagers are now in pre-trial detention.
